This restaurant is located on main street. The restaurant is medium sized. We went around 1pm and it was packed. Luckily we were immediately seated and didn't have to wait. Right at the entrance of the restaurant there is a little fountain. I've never seen a fountain of that size inside of a restaurant before. Pretty nice touch. We were seated on a table, but asked for a booth, and they didn't mind us moving. I ordered the Nicaraguan fajitas, and my manager ordered the chicken on white wine. She was obsessing over their chicken, so she gave me a piece to try. It was delicious. I don't usually order Nicaraguan food, so I didn't think it was going to be much different than the fajitas I normally order anywhere else. My fajitas had some sort of sauce on it, it somewhat looked like gravy and it tasted alright. Nothing great, nor terrible just alright. They also gave me a plate with 3 platanitos maduros and I was confused as to why I only got 3 platanitos on this big plate. But then a server came with a tray of Gallo pinto and mariquitas, and then asked me how much of each I wanted. I really liked that. The rice and mariquitas were very tasty. We had a cafecito to finish, and wow, it was so good. I didn't have to add any sugar or anything, it was perfect. I want to say that it was the best coffee I've ever had. And I've had plenty of different coffees. We had 2 servers attend us, and they were both very nice and attentive. Everyone here gave us great service. I would definetly come again, but I'll try something else from the menu.

Found this restaurant through Yelp while I was looking for a nice place to eat with my co workers for lunch. We were sat immediately and our server took our drink orders. He returned with some toasty, warm, and buttered Cuban table bread, which was good (my friends are Cuban and they liked it lol). We then asked him to recommend things to us from the lunch menu. Of course he recommended the most expensive things. Which is ok, we ended up going with whatever dishes we were leaning towards to begin with. My friends ordered the grilled chicken and I ordered the steak and onions. He quickly came back with some salad which was ok. Kind of strong on the dressing but was fine. The food quiclly came out about 15 minutes later. My steak was really delishes, only problem I had was that it was not cooked evenly throughout. I ordered it medium well and half of it was medium well and towards one side it was rare. Before they give you the food they also serve you some gayo pinto (idk if i spelt it right) which is rice with beans and you can have as much as you like. They als give you as much fried plantains as you wish. I at the end of the meal I oredered a cortadito to boost my energy after all that food which was great. Nice and strong. Overall, good place for lunch. Lots of options and good service. You will definitely get full!

Like always El Novillo exceeds my expectations. The churrasco is delish and the wine is fabulous. We even had the Trio singers at our table. Love this place...

This place is truly a treasure that has always been welcome in Miami Lakes. I havent been here since I was about 7 or 8 years old for my sister's bridal shower. I honestly didn't know what to expect aside from it being a Nica restaurant. I came on a date night after I won a $50 gift certificate here at a Yappy Hour raffle that benefitted the Humane Society of Miami. I was very honored! My boyfriend and I came on a date night and ordered the queso frito as an appetizer and I got the chicken churrasco while he got the medium-sized steak churrasco. The queso frito was not to my liking. It was way over-salted and in hindsight, I shouldn't have ordered it because the entree was ENOUGH! I practically had to be rolled out of the restaurant. The queso frito is served with a slaw that is tasty in a strange way. A small portion of salad is served to every customer. The vinaigrette was divine. The peppery sauce and chimichurri served with the bread were amazing! All of this is included with an entree-- which is great. I was very impressed with the entrees. My chicken churrasco was great, but I wish I had ordered the steak one because my boyfriend's food was incredible! The chimichurri is not what I'd expect, but its not awful. Its just not great either. The meat was brought with maduros. A woman came around with a large contraption holding gallo pinto and plantain chips. Amazing! You can have as much or as little as you please of the sides. I really appreciated this! Coming back was not a priority for me, but I see plenty of future date nights at El Novillo!!

We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, the place is beautiful inside with a lot of attention to detail including a fountain smack dab in the middle of the restaurant. I noticed the tables at the booths are shorter than the booths but our party was sat at a regular table. After scanning the menu for Vegetarian options I ended up ordering a French Onion soup and Caesar salad, there was no way I would've ordered a Portobello mushroom priced at $15.99 (It's a mushroom with a side of potatoes) The soup I found pretty salty but it was flavorful with a damage around $5. The Caesar salad (no meats) was "Ok", nothing special and definitely not worth the $7.99. I found this place to be very overpriced and didn't understand the 4 star review. The rest of the people in my group ordered the steaks and then a couple of waiters came to the table and served them rice & beans along with plantain chips which is strange for a dish that is upwards of $22. No one at the table commented anything positive about the steaks, it was more of an awkward silence & the sound of them trying to cut through the meat with difficulty. Service was also "ok", on a couple occasions the group asked for plantain chips to be brought to the table and every time they would return, no chips. They did however take our orders promptly and brought us warm bread and waters without asking.

NASTY! found a dead roach in my food. After complaining to the restaurant manager he replaced it with a new order, but who is going to have an appetite after seen that. Witnessed two waiters and the manager talking and laughing at a lady who was overweight at one of the tables in the restaurant. Never going there again!!!

If i could give zero stars i would. Been sitting here for 60 minutes now waiting for our food. We asked the incompetent manager what was going on, and he could barely bother to lift his head from some little device he was trying to use. And when he did, he only offered a broken 1 sentence explanation "food is coming.. We had a big party to serve" shrugged and walked away. Awful customer service FROM A MANAGER. No wonder the staff seems ill equipped and incompetent. Needless to say, i wont be trying el novillo ever again!!!

Very bad service, decided to eat here today for the first time, I do work in the area for the last 10 years. My first and last attempt. Waited to be seated for almost 10 minutes, restaurant was empty! Waiter walked in front of our party twice, other seated and completely ignored us. We decided to leave, one of the waiters came out right after us to make a call on his cellphone! Funny and sad.

Churrasco is great. Well seasoned and cooked to the temp you ask for. It comes with rice and plantains which are good but they come from a giant platter and you can tell they were cooked hours ago. I would prefer fresh cooked sides. Water boy is great but waiter isn't. He pushes items on you to raise the check average in a pushy and confusing way. I added the shrimp to steak which were great but it added $10 to plate and he made it sound like it came with the steak.

Service literally top notch. I'm not really sure I've I've ever received service like this at any restaurant - ever. Highly attentive - very nice. I ordered the repocheta el novillo for an appetizer - a baked type of cheese stuff which was quite amazing. So much so that I had to take a photo of it and hope to be able to maybe make it at home ( maybe). I couldn't stop eating it. I had the recommended steak (baby) which is 8 oz and comes with an amount of plantains and rice and beans that you choose. Definitely would recommend. Nice inside. Yummy. Too full for desert.

This is one of my all-time favorite places for steak. The service is great, the food is always delicious and fresh, and the price is reasonable for what you're getting. For entrée choices they have "churrasco", which in Nicaraguan terms is a butterflied, center-cut tenderloin. They also have other cuts of steak, chicken, and seafood in a variety of sauces. Every entrée comes with Gallo pinto, fried green plantains (mariquitas) and sweet ripe plantains (maduros). The servers come around to your plate and serve you the sides, and you can usually get double helpings if you ask (and you're gonna want seconds, believe me). There is always some sort of live Hispanic music going on if you sit inside, kinda cheesy but it's not a problem. This is a really good place for a date if you sit outside :) Just come here, trust me on this one. The churrasco is where it's at!

My 5th time here. Food is Ok(used to be really good) and service has gotten worse each time I visit. I still give 3 stars for the ambience.

I've been going to El Novillo fir a while now. Its in my in my neighborhood. The service and food is always excellent. They have the best gallo pinto. Every time we have ordered meat it comes perfectly cook. The tres leches and cuatro leches dessert are amazing. They have live music on the weekends. If you are craving for latin food this is it.

When I get old and barely have any teeth left and cannot eat your typical steak at least I know that I can go to this restaurant. This steak is unbelievable, it's so soft that you can almost gum it. We didn't order any appetizers but the state came with a salad that was so-so, rice and beans and banana chips. They offer three sauces which I love the Chimichurri sauce. Our waiter was very good, even when my wife's napkin hit the ground not only did he pick it up but he brought her brand-new one. My ice tea was never empty either, which is important to me. Looking forward to going back with my kids.

If there was an option for no stars that's what this place would get. I arrived there with my fiancée to try out the place that we have in mind to host our wedding shower. Upon arriving the hostess did not greet us. It seemed like if we not even there! She finally got our names and after 20 minutes of waiting the finally sat us down. When we got to our table we had no menus no glasses nothing, Just our utensils. No one came to greet us we had no idea who our waiter was. We placed our order with someone who perhaps was not even a waiter. Still after 30 minutes no waiter passed by. Finally we got very upset with the service we decided to leave before we have a penny to this place! NEVER RETURNING!! And definitely not having our wedding shower here with this low class service!

The rolled tacos aka Taquitos were flavorful. The highlight was the mojitos!! The passion fruit mojito is my favorite!!! Great service and awesome food!

If your looking for a fining dining Nicaraguan experience this is the place to go. The setting is very nice with plenty of free parking space around the establishment. Their steaks are to die for, marinated and succulent, the biggest plus is the waiters and waitresses. They are so attentive and make sure if you need something they anticipate and do it before you even ask. I love going to places like these that put customer service at the forefront. I don't mind dropping 2-3 hundred at a family outgoing as this is how every restaurant should operate.

Amazing food! El Novillo churrasco medium rare is the best along with pinto, maduro, Marquitas, salad and chimichurri sauce. The tres leches is amazing!!!!! Must get the tres-leches!!!!!

I give this place major props for quality service. I see the system they have implemented with a head waiter or waitress to take orders and have several servers handle the rest. There's always someone within arms reach offering great service. I ordered the tenderloin tips in jalapeño sauce and boy I'm glad I did. I'm glad they got my request for "medium well" done for the meat(sorry medium enthusiast , I'm not a fan) and their scrumptious sides. Our reservation for 7 was taken care of and we were quickly seated when we arrived to celebrate my aunt's birthday! Definitely will come back! Food is a solid 8 and service is a 9 in my book. :)

It's not what it use to be. The food doesn't taste good at all. They were very rude. And for the price they charge you can find so many other places that your taste buds will thank you for.

I took my mom for her Bday and was surprised at how horrible their meat is. We ordered 2 "Big Daddy" churrascos because it was bigger but in reality it looked like a regular churrasco. But wait, that's not the worse part. Their so-called-best-churrasco was HORRIBLE. yes, HORRIBLE. I literally felt like I was chewing on plastic -- no taste WHATSOEVER!! I've been to other hole-in-the-wall restaurants and it has been much better! My mom and I kept on adding salt, hot sauce, anything to give it some taste!! After that the bill was $70!! FOR EATING PLASTIC????! oh and then the tip, so overall it was $80. I literally felt hustled. This place is horrible - I really do NOT recommend it at all. Try spending your hard-earned money elsewhere, try Argentinian's or Brazilian's for better meat.

consistently good food and family style atmosphere, they serve a TON of food and every last bit is tasty. The sides are family style and not charged, they come with whichever main dish you choose and they are UNLIMITED, a guy comes around serving you rice with beans and plantains! The service is exceptional and the food comes out quite quickly, it is more of a relaxed atmosphere, but if you go on sundays prepare to wait a bit it gets quite full and loud! hope you enjoy!

I'll keep it short and to the point. Our appetizers never came out. I paid 15.00 for 2 portobello mushrooms, bland potatoes, and some greens. They never offered the rice, maduros, and mariquitas. When I brought this to the attention of our waiter, he offered to box it up for me. Thanks, but no thanks.

My five stars is based on the amazedness of the meat cuts . The meats are delicious. We each had a Churrasco . It was to die for . Totally recommend it . The service can be improved .....I ordered a well done it came rare . I send it back telling them I couldn't eat rare or medium rare meat cause I was pregnant and they brought the meat 3 min later still not cooked well done . I felt bad sending it back once again . Just a small details that make a big difference for costumers . But like I said the food here is amazing . They just have to work a little hard on this things.

The service is good. The prices are decent, and the steak is one of the best seasoned imo. Always my fall back place when I want a good churrasco.

El Novillo is a Nicaraguagüense restaurant so my review might be slightly biased... The restaurant is located in main street so the atmosphere is great for family dinners, date nights, or a girls/guys night out. It seems like the dress code is dressy because almost everyone there was wearing their Sunday best. The staff was very polite and efficient. Our waiter was the bomb!!!! The service was fast and the food was great. I wish I took a picture of our plates but it smelled delicious and looked so appetizing that I couldn't wait lmao....the pricing was totally fair and I actually thought they should charge more but I kept that idea to myself. There was a guy playing oldies music with his guitar and the fountain in the center of the restaurant set a great mood. I ordered a sampler for our table of 3 and it was soooooo good. They had a little bit of everything: ribs, fried cheese, taquitos, tortillas, refried beans with sour cream and sausage. I also ordered a baby churassco medium well. When my waiter brought the plate it only had the meat and sweet plantains. I was disappointed but to my surprise another person came with a huge plate of gallopinto(beans and rice) and fried green plantains. He would serve you as much as you wanted on your plate until you told him to stop. I was no longer disappointed. The caramel flan was on point and definitely a great way to end our dinner. Lastly, I enjoyed my NicaLibre cocktail which was well balanced and got me on a good level. Overall, the food, drinks, and staff were great and I recommend this place to anyone!

So I had come here years ago to have the lobster thermidor: it was outstanding. Today, to avoid traffic on the palmetto we cut through Miami Lakes and as soon as I saw this place my mouth watered; had to have it! Rainy day but sat out side as I had my Honey with me (my Yorkie!) and ordered my favorite dish....while waiting I checked in on Yelp and notice all the bad reviews including some with cockroaches...huh?!?!? A little scary but everything looks good so far so I'm staying. Food came in and I was so excited I ate it before taking any pictures(sorry!) OMG! Just as I remembered it, saucy, buttery, creamy, "lobstery", AMAZING! No cockroaches on this one! Lol! I downed it with a pitcher of sangria, which was normal, not too sweet, not to Wine"y": just good! I have it already schedule in my calendar to come back next year for the same thing...you can't have 2 of these in the same year or you will be a ball rolling around town :) Service was average, our guy was great but it took us a while to get him over. Overall good food and service.

I had an event here for a large party. The food was excellent and service was okay. One server was very friendly and helpful while the other had a terrible attitude and seemed to not want to be there. We didn't let that damper our experience. We had a great time and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have an event or just try it out with family and friends. The manager is also very nice and cooperated with us when some of our party didn't make it. Over all I am very happy with the experience.

For many years I ate at El Novillo on a regular basis but I had taken a hiatus for a few years so lasts night's visit was like seeing a long lost old friend. I must admit, nothing has changed (and I mean that in a good way!). Everything from the menu to the excellent and attentive service is exactly the same. The prices may have gone up a bit but it is still a good value. Of course the entree to get at El Novillo is steak. The Churassco comes in 3 sizes: Baby, 8oz @ $17.99, El Novillo, 12 oz @ $21.99, and the Big Daddy, 16 oz @ $27.99. I got the Baby, which seemed like a generous portion and Husband got the Big Daddy which was huge. The Churassco at El Novillo is thick and juicy. It is not as seasoned as some Churrasco's I have had and some parts of mine were a bit fatty (not Husband's) but you can tell it is definitely a high quality piece of meat. I love the chimichurri and tomato & onion sauces they are served with. There are other steaks on the menu. In the past I have had the Tenderloin Tips with Jalapeño sauce which was excellent. I have also had fish which was great too. Sides are a bit limited. All entrees come with a small salad. It is just lettuce, a tomato slice, and onions, but I really enjoy the oil & vintager dressing. After your entrees arrive the waiter will serve rice & beans, fried sweet plantains, & plantain chips table side. All are very tasty. Our service was very pleasant and lightening fast. I was glad the mariachi singers called it a night soon after we got there. I can't stand mariachi and one of these guys was really off tune! El Novillo does have lunch specials with cheaper prices. Cannot forget about this place again. Must return more often. Worth the drive!

Always a good meal. Good service, food is good, full bar. Gets a little packed on weekends and holidays. If they are playing music sit across the restaurant from the performers if you want to have a conversation, it gets loud.

Well have to say that for a Fathers Day Dinner it was half bad. We had the large skirt Steak and Lobster Thermidor. Table was short due to the amount of the people in the restaurant. service was okay. the guitarist was awesome. Will try again. Lets see.
